TFC: 2002/2003 New Season Roundup
23th October 2002
With a new season under way there are already several noticable changes
visible at Plough Lane. The first, a true sign of the rigours of the
amateur game, is a growing injury list that stated on the very first day
when new signing Adam Jessel sythed Dom Moore to the ground thereby spilling the
first drop of claret on TFC soil. This unfortunate incident was then followed
by the breaking news that Sideshow would have to miss two games due to
a sizeable blister. Fortunately for the gaffer, however, Boozer has been
spotted back on the continent, and though he was last seen hobbling from
touchlines almost 10 months ago, he assures me he's now fighting fit and back on games. Alongside Boozer
others are finding/comming back into the fold and last Monday it was great to see `the Rock' Ed Burbidge
making his debut with `Big Tim' letting everyone run circles round him once again.
The second difference however, only goes to show how well respected the
club has become. Having lost the 'ad man magnet' Oli Barrat at the start
of the season it has fallen to the Gaffer and team captain Fred Auld to
fill thier coppers with sposors cash. This was obvious from the first outing
when one look at the new range of 'winklepickers' in display clearly revealed
those more profitable assets within the team. Fred was delighted with his
special edition sneaker pimps adding, 'I knew the sponsors would love me. Previously
only the crowd called me a 'banker', now I get paid like one too!'
