Kodiacs bear all in TFC Match
By Ben Hawkes

'Twas a cold and wet night for K.O. 7pm (GMT) at the Battersea Stadium 20/01/2003, but this bore nothing on the Tractor squad fielded for the occasion, standing solid through the storm like the true English Oaks many a scout has compared them to. Alongside the urban stalwart regulars; Big Hawk, Big Fred, Big Charlie and Big Suck was a debut of rookies plucked from the womb of rural football talent, John from the Felsted Rovers, Kris from the Oxted Teddies and Andrew Miller from Wisden.com. From the whistle the Tractor boys were fast on their way to promotion with some textbook one-two's from the back resulting in two goals apiece for Hawk and John. The subsequent 25 minutes resulted in some brave headed shots from Andrew, strong defence from Big Suck and Big Fred, nimble skilling from Big Charlie, pillaging runs down the right from Kris and a goal conceded by confusion.

With the taste of Orange in our bellies, the adrenaline from a rousing team talk and the red cupped imprint of Big Fred's hand on our buttock we marched out to a very different second half. The majority of play was held by the opposition who were only able to penetrate our defence a few times, managing to convert and divert these rare opportunities left to them. The Tractors started to play a very different game, using the long-ball, whole breadth of the pitch, back passes and above all the true zeitgeist of sport itself team-work! With this newfound style Big Charlie was picked out up front time-after-time pummelling the woodwork and selling the defence to notch up another two for the team. The final big fuck off shiny nail in the coffin was a rocket-ish pass from Big Suck on the half-way mark which skimmed through the awaiting keepers gloves to finish the battle at 7-4.

A solid performance form the squad and encouraging result from the rookies.!

For the Tractors: Team: Hawk, Fred, Sparrow, Sucky, John Hooton, Andrew Miller and Kris Williams.
