Tractor FC [9] v's Robbo's Wanderers [4], 10th February, 2003.
TFC proving unbeatable this year
By Henry Robson

Mon 10th Feb. Robson's Yid Army came to Battersea Park keen on proving that this wasn't such a hard ground to come and take three points from, but left somewhat with their tails between their legs. A few eyebrows were raised on first glance at the team sheet; the line up was attacking with no first choice defenders making the starting line up so it looked like we were in for goals. Goad and Smith were the stand in sweepers but with the Yids down to six men for the opening quarter they had their work cut out. Tobin had been toilet-trapped in the shambolic changing facilities that are to be found at this club, which the F.A may impose a fine on for not being up to Premier league standard.

TFC, yet again another dream line up

Once Tobin had arrived on the field of play the Yids were already three down and a cricket score looked on the cards. Misguidedly Robson had left his defence wide open "I thought they might be tired after a big game midweek and we'd have a go at them, maybe get them on the back foot in the first half, it didn't quite work." 3-0 became 5-2 but there was only ever going to be one winner. The Yids looked more like the spice boys with fancy footwork, great build-up but lacking the cutting edge up front; while the Tractors played the game at their pace slow, precise passing knowing that trying to run with a soft ball was only going to hinder their chances. The ginga streak down the centre of this team makes them hard to break down and gives them a fiery edge in the centre of the park.. Jessel coming back from injury was clearly not match fit whilst Fletcher was the only player from the Yids who could be proud of his performance. In the end the Yids did well to stop Butler's team reaching double figures but they were always playing catch up and left themselves open at the back trying to get themselves into the game.

The Tractor's superiority was confirmed with Kermit Nelson volleying home a spectacular twenty-yard ball from the deep, however replays show that it came off Nelson's shin rather than laces summing up the night perfectly.

Robbo, left to reflect on an absolute whipping!
