Tractor FC [15] v's Bowen FC [5], 4th March, 2002.
Purrrring Tractors Collect Bumper Crop
After missing Sunday's match against the lawyers due to legal reasons
(none of them were able to avoid having lunch at 1 that day), Monday night was always going
to display a fresh Tractor side brimming with energy and confidence. The
desire to perform was also increased by the fact that Bowen FC had beaten the
Tractors whilst the Gaffer was away in Europe for a spot of skiing/
talent spotting earlier in the year. Conscious of the ability of
the Tractors to take an early lead and then collapse quicker than
the twin towers that are Gough and Caddick in our middle order, the
Gaffer made sure that the message to, 'play hard, score and score
again', was sent to the lads before kick off.
Five minutes into the game some excellent play by an under pressure Saddam
saw a carefully placed shot take the advantage, soon after which Mika
rushed out of the blocks to connect with a low cross
that had been delivered to him, 'right on the Jenson'.
Seemingly cruising at four goals to one, the Tractors suddenly
lost their way. In a matter of minutes the situation had drastically
changed after a resurgent BFC combined well to tuck 3 away.
Up front Dave K, Harry, Ed and Rob troubled the Tractors, if not
our keeper. This was not only because some of their
shooting infront of goal was mercifully wayward, but also because our tiny keeper appeared to react
only after all inbound missiles had
crashed, deflected or even dribbled into the back of the net.
Meanwhile, Oli, Pony and Pineapple continued to work
hard to get the Tractors out of the rut they were in, and soon
the fruits of their labour paid off with some of the best football the Gaffer's
seen so far. Garry and Uncle Eddy worked well in mid-field whilst the combined horse power
of Tony and Mika on left led to countless charges down the field.
'It's a solid victory', commented the Gaffer after the game. 'And it's nice to see goals in torrents for a change
, and not just rain!'
For the Tractaz: Gaffer[5], Oli[3], Mika[4], Ed[1], Tony[1], Garry[1], Fletch[15 assists!]
For Bowen FC: Rob, Ed, Dave K, Marvin, Hoyleee, Harry Edwards, Max Bains.
